Description
A melty, savory sandwich made with seasoned ground beef, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, all grilled between buttery slices of sourdough for the ultimate comfort food experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 slices sourdough or white bread
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef. Break up the meat as it browns, then add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Season with salt and pepper. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Simmer until the mixture thickens and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Place two slices of bread, butter side down, on the skillet. Add cheddar cheese, beef mixture, and mozzarella on top. Close with remaining bread slices, butter side up.
- Cook 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Slice in half, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.
- You can substitute cheddar or mozzarella with other melty cheeses like Monterey Jack.
- Dairy-free cheese and gluten-free bread can be used for dietary preferences.
- Ground turkey or chicken makes a lighter version of this sandwich.
