About Me

María Jannet — co-founder of Optimal Recipes

Hi, I’m María, co-founder of The Optimal Recipes alongside my sister Patricia. Together we’ve spent the last 8 years turning home kitchens into places where weeknight dinners actually feel exciting again — without restaurant prices, professional equipment, or a culinary degree.

The Optimal Recipes was born from a simple belief: every family deserves food that tastes like it took effort, even when it didn’t. We test every recipe in our own kitchen — sometimes 5 or 6 times — before publishing. If a step is unclear, a timing is off, or an ingredient is hard to find, we fix it before it goes live.

Halal-Friendly From Day One

Every recipe on The Optimal Recipes is halal-friendly. We do not use pork, alcohol, gelatin, lard, or any haram ingredients. Where a traditional recipe normally calls for them, we substitute halal equivalents (beef bacon, grape juice for wine, agar agar for gelatin, etc.) and we name the swaps openly. Our goal is recipes any home — Muslim or otherwise — can cook with confidence.

Meet Patricia: Head Chef & Lead Recipe Developer

Patricia Jannet — head chef of Optimal Recipes

Patricia is our head chef and the name you see on most recipe bylines. With 15+ years in the culinary industry — including time as a certified barbecue judge and professional caterer — she leads recipe development, testing methodology, and quality control. Patricia is the one who decides whether a recipe is ready to ship: clear instructions, accurate timing, and reliable results across home ovens, sheet pans, and skillets.

If a recipe says “tested in our kitchen” on this site, Patricia or María (or both) physically cooked it, photographed it, and adjusted it. No unstated AI guesses, no recipes copied from the internet without testing.

What Makes The Optimal Recipes Different

  • Halal absolute — zero pork, alcohol, gelatin, or lard across 2,300+ recipes.
  • Tested in real kitchens — not test labs. Every recipe goes through our home setup before it’s published, so the timings work in the real world.
  • Restaurant techniques, pantry ingredientsglobal cuisines made approachable, with substitutions for hard-to-find items.
  • Step-by-step photos & clear timing — minutes per step, internal temperatures, visual doneness cues. No guessing.
  • Budget honest — cost-per-serving on every recipe, with US-average prices and the date we checked them.

Our Testing Methodology

  • Initial cook — Patricia or María cooks the recipe with the original draft.
  • Re-cook with adjustments — we change anything unclear, off-timed, or hard to source.
  • Photography session — we shoot the final recipe so what you see is what you cook.
  • Family taste testour families eat what we publish.
  • Reader feedback loop — we update recipes when readers report consistent issues.
