Ingredients
Scale
For the Bagel Sandwich
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 small onion, sliced thinly
- 1/2 pound shaved steak
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 slices American cheese
- 2 bagels, halved and toasted
For the Sauce
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon dried dill
Optional Additions:
- Hot sauce or sriracha for a spicy kick
- Fresh avocado slices for a creamy twist
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, mustard, and dried dill until smooth. Set the sauce aside in the refrigerator.
Step 2: Cook the Onions
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt.
- Cook for about 5–7 minutes until softened and lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 3: Scramble the Eggs
- Melt another tablespoon of butter in the skillet.
- Add the beaten eggs and cook until scrambled and fluffy.
- Divide the scrambled eggs into two portions.
Step 4: Season and Cook the Steak
- Toss the shaved steak with Worcestershire sauce and Montreal steak seasoning in a bowl.
- Melt the last tablespoon of butter in the skillet. Add the steak and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned.
- Return the cooked onions to the steak and mix well. Separate into two portions and place a slice of cheese on each pile to melt.
Step 5: Toast the Bagels
- Toast the bagels in a toaster or on the skillet until golden brown.
Step 6: Assemble the Sandwich
- Spread the prepared sauce on each toasted bagel half.
- Place the scrambled eggs on the bottom half of each bagel.
- Top with the steak, onion, and melted cheese mixture. Finish with the top bagel half.
Serve immediately for the best flavor!
Notes
- Use fresh ingredients: High-quality steak and free-range eggs elevate the dish.
- Toast the bagels in the same skillet: Absorb leftover steak and onion flavors.
- Add some spice: A sprinkle of red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce brings extra zing.
