Description

Welcome, fellow dessert lovers! Are you looking for a treat that’s decadent, sweet, and absolutely indulgent? Look no further than these Easy Caramel Pecan Turtle Bars! Whether you’re preparing a dessert for a family gathering, a holiday treat, or simply craving something rich and satisfying, this recipe will hit the spot. With buttery layers, crunchy pecans, gooey caramel, and a perfect touch of chocolate, these turtle bars are sure to become a household favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Begin by preparing your baking dish. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it. This will help you remove the bars from the pan with ease.
  • Prepare the Crust.
In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, and softened butter. You want the mixture to resemble coarse crumbs, which will form the perfect buttery base for your bars. Once the dough is mixed, press it evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake the Crust.
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is lightly golden. This step helps create a sturdy foundation for the gooey caramel and chocolate layers to sit on.
  • Layer the Pecans and Caramel.
After removing the crust from the oven, immediately sprinkle the pecan halves evenly over the hot crust. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the pecans, making sure to spread it out evenly.
  • Add the Chocolate Chips.
Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the caramel layer. As the bars continue to bake, the chocolate will melt and combine with the caramel and pecans to create the signature turtle bar flavor.
  • Bake Again.
Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the chocolate chips are melted and the caramel is bubbly.
  • Cool and Cut.
Remove the bars from the oven and let them cool completely before cutting them into squares. This will allow the caramel to set, making the bars easier to handle.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper: Lining your baking dish with parchment paper will make removing the bars much easier after they have cooled.
  • Chill before cutting: If you find that your bars are still sticky after cooling, place them in the fridge for about 30 minutes to firm up the caramel.
  • Be patient: Make sure the bars are completely cool before cutting to avoid a gooey mess.
