Potatoes Peel the potatoes and slice them into smaller pieces. Place them into a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring the water to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 15-18 minutes or until soft enough to easily slice through with a knife. Drain and return to the pot. Mash the potatoes and mix in the butter, garlic, salt, black pepper, and half & half.
