Description

Hello there, food lovers! ???? Today, I’m excited to share a simple yet delicious appetizer that’s sure to be a hit at any gathering—Savory Cream Cheese and Olive Tortilla Pinwheels. Whether you’re hosting a party or just looking for a quick snack, these pinwheels are the perfect bite-sized treat. Let’s dive into this flavorful and fun recipe!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (4-1/4 ounces) chopped ripe olives
  • 1 can (4 ounces) chopped green chiles, well drained
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • Seasoned salt to taste
  • 5 flour tortillas (10 inches), warmed
  • Salsa, optional

Instructions

  1. Mix the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and sour cream until well blended. The mixture should be smooth and creamy.
  2. Add Flavor: Stir in the chopped ripe olives, green chiles, chopped green onions, garlic powder, and seasoned salt. Mix until all the ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the cream cheese mixture.
  3. Spread the Mixture: Lay out the warmed tortillas on a flat surface. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over each tortilla, making sure to cover the entire surface for maximum flavor in every bite.
  4. Roll It Up: Roll up each tortilla tightly to form a log. To keep the shape intact, wrap each rolled tortilla in plastic wrap, twisting the ends to seal.
  5. Refrigerate: Place the wrapped tortillas in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight. This step allows the flavors to meld together and makes the pinwheels easier to slice.
  6. Slice and Serve: Once the tortillas are set, unwrap them and slice into 1/2- to 3/4-inch slices using a serrated knife. Arrange the pinwheels on a serving platter and, if desired, serve with salsa for dipping.

Notes

  • Softening the Cream Cheese: Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened before mixing it with the other ingredients. This will help you achieve a smoother mixture that spreads easily on the tortillas.
  • Rolling the Tortillas: To prevent the tortillas from cracking as you roll them, make sure they are warm. You can heat them in the microwave for a few seconds to make them more pliable.
  • Slicing the Pinwheels: For clean, even slices, use a sharp serrated knife and wipe it clean between cuts. This will help you achieve perfect pinwheel shapes.
