Welcome to this delightful recipe for Pecan Crusted Salmon! If you’re a seafood lover looking to elevate your dinner menu, this recipe is perfect for you. Combining the delicate texture of salmon with the rich, nutty flavor of pecans, this dish is a show-stopper for both casual weeknight meals and special occasions. Read on to learn how to make this simple yet elegant recipe with just a few ingredients and quick steps.

Ingredients

Scale

  • ½ cup pecans, chopped or ground finely
  • 4 portions of salmon (approximately 6 ounces each)
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, very finely minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, very finely minced
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 lemon, cut into 4 thick slices

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (180°C). Place the pecans on a baking tray and toast them for 6-8 minutes, until fragrant. Remove and set aside. Chop the pecans finely using a food processor or by hand.

Step 2: Season the Salmon

In a small bowl, combine sea salt, paprika, and black pepper. Rub this mixture evenly over the salmon fillets.

Step 3: Coat the Salmon

Press the chopped pecans onto the top of each fillet. Make sure to coat them evenly, ensuring a thick layer of pecans for a nice crunch.

Step 4: Sauté the Aromatics

Melt the butter in a large, oven-proof frying pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for about one minute until fragrant.

Step 5: Add the Salmon

Carefully place the salmon fillets, pecan-side up, in the pan. Nestle the lemon slices around the salmon. Spoon some of the butter and aromatics over the top.

Step 6: Maple Glaze and Broil

Add the maple syrup to the pan and let it simmer gently for 2 minutes. Transfer the entire pan to the oven and broil for 2-3 minutes until the tops are browned and the pecans are crispy.

Step 7: Serve Immediately

Once done, remove the pan from the oven and serve immediately. Spoon the remaining maple sauce over the fillets for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Choosing the Right Salmon: For the best results, use fresh, wild-caught salmon. It has a richer flavor compared to farmed salmon.
  • Nut Substitutes: Allergic to pecans? You can swap them for almonds or pistachios for a different, equally delicious crust.
  • Maple Syrup: For a lower-sugar option, consider using honey or a sugar-free maple syrup alternative.
