Let’s dive into the magic of this irresistible dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

For the Cheesecake Layer:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Ganache Layer (Third Brown Layer):

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

For the Topping:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Optional Substitutions:

  • Use gluten-free graham crackers for a gluten-free version.
  • Swap pecans with walnuts or almonds if preferred.
  • Replace shredded coconut with extra chopped nuts for a nutty twist.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Crust

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, ensuring overhang for easy removal.
  3. In a bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar until well combined.
  4. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the dish to form an even crust.

Step 2: Make the Cheesecake Layer

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add powdered sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, beating until creamy.
  3. Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over the crust.

Step 3: Add the Ganache Layer

  1. Heat heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until steaming (do not boil).
  2. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  3. Spread the ganache evenly over the cheesecake layer.

Step 4: Add the Toppings

  1. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the ganache.
  2. Sprinkle shredded coconut and chopped pecans evenly on top.

Step 5: Bake and Cool

  1. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the edges are golden and the topping is set.
  2. Let the bars cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing.

Notes

  • Use softened cream cheese for a smoother cheesecake layer. Cold cream cheese may result in lumps.
  • Press the crust firmly to prevent it from crumbling when sliced.
  • Allow the ganache to cool slightly before spreading it over the cheesecake to ensure even layers.
