Ingredients

Scale

Essential Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for rich flavor)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups cooked rice (jasmine, basmati, or brown rice)

Optional Add-Ons:

  • Veggies: Bell peppers, carrots, spinach, or broccoli
  • Toppings: Sesame seeds, sliced cucumber, kimchi, or pickled veggies
  • Protein Swap: Ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based meat
  • Spicy Kick: Add gochujang (Korean chili paste) or Sriracha

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Rice (Choose Your Method)

Stovetop:

  1. Rinse 1 cup of rice under cold water until clear.
  2. Combine with 2 cups of water in a pot.
  3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Let sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.

Rice Cooker:

  1. Add rinsed rice and water to the cooker.
  2. Set it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Instant Pot:

  1. Add rinsed rice and water to the pot.
  2. Pressure cook on high for 3 minutes and let it naturally release.

2️⃣ Cook the Ground Beef

  1. Brown the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and break it apart as it cooks. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  2. Add Aromatics: Drain excess fat if needed, then add garlic and ginger. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Season It Up: Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to absorb flavors.

3️⃣ Assemble the Bowl

  1. Start with a Base: Scoop steamed rice into a bowl.
  2. Add the Beef Mixture: Spoon the flavorful ground beef on top.
  3. Top It Off: Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, and kimchi.

🔥 Pro Tip: For an authentic Korean touch, top your bowl with a fried egg 🍳!

Notes

For a healthier version, swap white rice with brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice. Want extra crunch? Add shredded carrots or cucumber slices! 🌿🔥
