Description

Soft, gooey, and buttery Heart Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies made in just 30 minutes. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, gifting, or a sweet homemade treat.


Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks or chips (milk or semi-sweet)
  • ¼ cup Valentine sprinkles or sugar hearts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chunks or chips, reserving a few for topping.
  7. Chill the dough for 30 minutes to help the cookies hold their shape.
  8. Scoop out dough, roll into balls, flatten slightly, then pinch the bottom and indent the top to form heart shapes.
  9. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheet and press in extra chocolate and sprinkles if using.
  10. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
  11. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chill the dough to prevent cookies from spreading too much.
  • Underbake by 1 minute for extra gooey centers.
  • Gently reshape cookies with a spatula after baking for crisper heart shapes.
