Description
Soft, chewy, and vibrantly green, these Grinch Cookies are topped with a red heart and dusted with powdered sugar — perfect for Christmas celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
Green food coloring (gel for bright color)
Red heart sprinkles or red candy melts
Instructions
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
Mix in eggs, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and green food coloring until the dough is evenly colored.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Slightly flatten each ball.
Press one red heart sprinkle or red candy melt into the center of each cookie.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set and centers remain soft.
Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Once completely cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Chill the dough for 20 minutes for thicker cookies.
Only dust with powdered sugar after baking — it melts in the oven.
Use gel food coloring for a vibrant green without thinning the dough.
Store cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them soft.
