Soft, chewy, and vibrantly green, these Grinch Cookies are topped with a red heart and dusted with powdered sugar — perfect for Christmas celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Green food coloring (gel for bright color)
- Red heart sprinkles or red candy melts
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Mix in eggs, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and green food coloring until the dough is evenly colored.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Slightly flatten each ball.
- Press one red heart sprinkle or red candy melt into the center of each cookie.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set and centers remain soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Once completely cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Chill the dough for 20 minutes for thicker cookies.
- Only dust with powdered sugar after baking — it melts in the oven.
- Use gel food coloring for a vibrant green without thinning the dough.
- Store cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them soft.
