For the Pie:

  • 1 pie crust that is pre-made (9-inch) or make your own
  • 1 cup of sugar granulated
  • Half cup corn syrup light
  • 1/4 cup butter that is unsalted, melting
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Half cup thick cream
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter (for caramel base)
  • 1 cup pecans chopped
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup of shredded of sweetened coconut (optional)

For Decoration (Optional):

  • Pecans added for topping

Ingredient Substitutions:

  • Gluten-Free Crust: Use a gluten-free pie crust.
  • Nut-Free Choice: Substitute pecans with sunflower seeds, or leave them out altogether.
  • Dairy Free: Cream and dairy free butter are good substitutes.

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat and Prep

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F (175degC). Put the pie crust into an 9-inch pie dish. cut the edges to your liking to give it a polished look.

Step 2: Prepare the Caramel Base

  1. In a small pot over medium-high heat, mix the Brown sugar with butter as well as heavy cream.
  2. Continuously stir until the sugar has disintegrated and the mixture becomes slightly thicker (about three to five minutes).
  3. Pour this caramel mix into the pie crust’s bottom and then spread it evenly using an ice cube.
