Description

Hello food lovers! Today, I’m excited to share one of my favorite comfort recipes with you—Crispy Pepperoni Pizza Panini with Gooey Mozzarella. This easy-to-make dish combines the best of both worlds—your favorite pizza flavors nestled between two perfectly grilled slices of bread. Whether you’re whipping it up for a quick lunch or a fun family dinner, you’re going to love this crispy, cheesy creation. Let’s dive into this mouthwatering recipe that delivers all the bold flavors and crispy textures you crave in a pizza, but with the ease of a panini!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 4 thick slices of hearty bread (or 1 (1214 ounce) loaf ciabatta)
  • 1⁄2 cup pizza sauce (or marinara)
  • 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
  • 34 ounces pepperoni slices
  • Olive oil spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Grill or Panini Press: Preheat a panini press, George Foreman grill, or grill pan over medium heat to ensure it’s ready for that perfect crisp.
  2. Prepare the Bread: Slice the bread nice and thick, or if you’re using ciabatta, scoop out some of the bread to make room for the fillings. Then, spread the pizza sauce evenly over the cut sides.
  3. Layer the Fillings: Start by layering the bottom half of the bread with the mozzarella slices, followed by a generous layer of pepperoni slices. Place the top half of the bread on top to close the sandwich.
  4. Spray with Olive Oil: Lightly spray the crust of the bread with olive oil spray to ensure a golden, crispy finish when grilling.
  5. Grill to Perfection: Place the sandwich on the preheated panini press or grill. If you’re using a grill pan, place a heavy skillet on top of the sandwich to press it down. Grill for 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted.
  6. Cool and Serve: Once done, remove from the heat and let the panini cool for 1-2 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy the melty goodness!

Notes

  • Choose the Right Bread: Opt for a sturdy bread like ciabatta or sourdough, as it holds up better when pressed and grilled.
  • Even Layering: To ensure even cooking, spread the pizza sauce evenly and layer the mozzarella and pepperoni uniformly.
  • Don’t Overfill: Avoid overstuffing the panini to prevent the fillings from spilling out during grilling.
