Description
Cheesy Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread is a 30-minute comfort food recipe featuring thick, crispy garlic bread loaded with saucy ground beef and melted cheese. It’s perfect for family dinners, game days, or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ cup sloppy joe sauce (or tomato sauce + ketchup mix)
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 loaf garlic bread (store-bought or homemade)
- 1½–2 cups shredded mozzarella or mozzarella-cheddar blend
- Fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with diced onion until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant.
- Stir in sloppy joe sauce and tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
- Place garlic bread slices on a baking sheet, cut side up.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over each slice of garlic bread.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly on top of the meat mixture.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for 1–2 minutes if desired.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- Use thick garlic bread to prevent sogginess.
- Simmer the meat until thick to keep the bread from soaking.
- Mozzarella gives the best melt, but provolone or cheddar also work well.
- Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
- Cut into smaller pieces for party appetizers or finger food.
