Today, we’re diving into the world of Cheesy Hot Beef Sandwiches—a comfort food classic that combines melty cheese, tender beef, and buttery bread in every bite. Whether you’re cooking for a family dinner or a casual lunch, these sandwiches are guaranteed to impress.
Ingredients
Scale
1 lb shredded beef (slow-cooked or roast leftovers)
8 slices of thick white bread
4 slices of provolone or mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Optional Substitutions:
Swap white bread for sourdough or whole grain for added flavor and texture.
Use cheddar or Swiss cheese if preferred.
Replace butter with vegan alternatives for a dairy-free option.
Instructions
Step1: Prepare the Spread
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and garlic powder. Mix until smooth.
Step2: Butter the Bread
Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Flip the bread and spread the mayo mixture on the unbuttered side.
Step3: Assemble the Sandwiches
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place 4 slices of bread, butter-side down, onto the skillet.
Add a slice of cheese on top of each bread slice, followed by a generous portion of shredded beef.
Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
Step4: Cook to Perfection
Cook each sandwich for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Step5: Serve and Garnish
Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, slice in half, and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
For an extra crispy crust, press the sandwiches lightly with a spatula while cooking.
Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and flavor.
Add caramelized onions or sautéed peppers for additional layers of flavor.
