Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and halved
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Drain any excess fat.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the green beans for 3–4 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. Stir in the cooked ground beef and green beans until well mixed.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
- Remove the dish from the oven, sprinkle crispy fried onions over the top, and return to bake for another 5–7 minutes until golden brown.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use frozen green beans if fresh are unavailable, just skip the blanching step.
- To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free soup and fried onions.
- Make ahead by assembling the dish without onions and refrigerate up to 24 hours before baking.
- Add bacon or mushrooms for extra flavor variation.
