Description
Elegant baked pears with berries, honey, walnuts and blue cheese — a sophisticated yet simple dessert that perfectly balances sweet, savory, creamy, and nutty flavors. Ideal for fall, holidays, or anytime you crave a cozy gourmet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
3 ripe pears (Bosc or Bartlett), halved and cored
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup fresh mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, or cranberries)
1/4 cup chopped walnuts, lightly toasted
1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese or gorgonzola
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Slice the pears in half lengthwise. Remove the cores with a spoon or melon baller and trim the bottoms so they sit flat in the dish.
Brush each pear half with melted butter and place them cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.
Spoon berries, toasted walnuts, and crumbled blue cheese into the hollowed centers of the pears.
Drizzle honey over the pears and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the pears are tender and golden around the edges.
Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh thyme if desired, and spoon warm pan juices over the top before serving.
Notes
Choose firm but ripe pears like Bosc or Bartlett for best results.
For a nut-free version, substitute walnuts with roasted pumpkin or sunflower seeds.
Add a drizzle of balsamic glaze or serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped mascarpone for extra decadence.
This dish also pairs beautifully with cheese boards and makes an elegant appetizer.
