Ingredients
- 1 lb/450g raw shrimp (prawns), peeled and deveined
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- 3 cups shredded green cabbage
- 1 cup grated carrot
- ½ cup fresh coriander (cilantro)
- 6–8 flour tortillas
Optional Substitutions:
- Replace flour tortillas with corn tortillas for a gluten-free option.
- For dairy-free, swap the Greek yogurt in the avocado crema with a plant-based yogurt.
Avocado Crema:
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 small ripe avocado
- 3–4 tablespoons lime juice
- Salt + pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Season the shrimp
In a medium bowl, combine the shrimp with olive oil, paprika, coriander, salt, and pepper. Toss the shrimp until they are evenly coated in the spices.
Step 2: Air fry the shrimp
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the seasoned shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. The shrimp should be crispy and golden.
Step 3: Make the avocado crema
In a blender or food processor, blend the Greek yogurt, avocado, lime juice, salt, and pepper until smooth. Scrape down the sides as needed to ensure a creamy texture.
Step 4: Prepare the cabbage slaw
In a large bowl, toss the shredded cabbage and grated carrot with ½ cup of the avocado crema. Add the fresh cilantro for a burst of flavor.
Step 5: Assemble the tacos
Warm the flour tortillas and layer them with a generous scoop of the cabbage slaw, followed by the crispy shrimp. Drizzle extra avocado crema on top, and enjoy your delicious Air Fryer Shrimp Tacos.
Notes
- Use fresh shrimp for the best texture and flavor. Frozen shrimp can work, but make sure to defrost them properly.
- For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding chipotle seasoning or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper to the shrimp rub.
- To save time, you can prepare the slaw and avocado crema in advance and store them in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
