Whether you’re a fan of hearty, protein-packed meals or searching for an easy yet flavorful brunch idea, this dish is your go-to comfort food. So, grab your skillet, and let’s get cooking!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Bagel Sandwich

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 pound shaved steak
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 2 bagels, halved and toasted

For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried dill

Optional Additions:

  • Hot sauce or sriracha for a spicy kick
  • Fresh avocado slices for a creamy twist

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, mustard, and dried dill until smooth. Set the sauce aside in the refrigerator.

Step 2: Cook the Onions

  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt.
  • Cook for about 5–7 minutes until softened and lightly browned. Remove and set aside.

Step 3: Scramble the Eggs

  • Melt another tablespoon of butter in the skillet.
  • Add the beaten eggs and cook until scrambled and fluffy.
  • Divide the scrambled eggs into two portions.

Step 4: Season and Cook the Steak

  • Toss the shaved steak with Worcestershire sauce and Montreal steak seasoning in a bowl.
  • Melt the last tablespoon of butter in the skillet. Add the steak and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned.
  • Return the cooked onions to the steak and mix well. Separate into two portions and place a slice of cheese on each pile to melt.

Step 5: Toast the Bagels

  • Toast the bagels in a toaster or on the skillet until golden brown.

Step 6: Assemble the Sandwich

  • Spread the prepared sauce on each toasted bagel half.
  • Place the scrambled eggs on the bottom half of each bagel.
  • Top with the steak, onion, and melted cheese mixture. Finish with the top bagel half.

Serve immediately for the best flavor!

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients: High-quality steak and free-range eggs elevate the dish.
  • Toast the bagels in the same skillet: Absorb leftover steak and onion flavors.
  • Add some spice: A sprinkle of red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce brings extra zing.
