Instructions

Step1: Activate the Yeast

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and 1 teaspoon of sugar.
  2. Sprinkle active dry yeast over the milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it turns frothy.

Step2: Make the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the frothy yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Mix until the dough starts to come together.

Step3: Knead the Dough

  2. Knead for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Step4: First Rise

  1. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

Step5: Shape the Doughnuts

  1. Roll out the dough to ½-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  2. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the doughnuts.
  3. Place the doughnuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step6: Second Rise

  1. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Step7: Fry the Doughnuts
