Ingredients

Scale
  • Dry Ingredients:
    • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • ½ teaspoon baking soda
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Wet Ingredients:
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • ¾ cup granulated sugar
    • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Filling:
    • ½ cup cream cheese, softened
    • ¼ cup blueberry jam

Optional: Use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version or swap out the jam for your favorite fruit preserves.

Instructions

Step1: Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheets

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Step2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step3: Cream the Butter and Sugars

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.

Step4: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined to avoid overworking the dough.

Step5: Prepare the Filling

In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with the blueberry jam. Gently swirl the mixture to create a marbled effect.

Step6: Form and Fill the Cookies

Scoop out dough balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets. Use your thumb to create an indentation in each cookie. Spoon a small amount of the cream cheese and blueberry swirl mixture into each indentation.

Step7: Bake

Bake the cookies for 12–14 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow them to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • Use high-quality blueberry jam for the richest flavor.
  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes to prevent the cookies from spreading too much.
  • For a tangier filling, add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the cream cheese mixture.
