Cold Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe – Quick & Easy Appetizer

Description

Looking for an irresistible appetizer that will wow your guests? This Cold Buffalo Chicken Dip is the perfect combination of tangy, creamy, and savory flavors, all packed into one easy-to-make dish. Whether you’re hosting a party or looking for a simple snack, this dip will become your go-to recipe. Using a rotisserie chicken makes it even faster to prepare, and trust us, this dish is nothing short of delicious!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 rotisserie chicken, shredded (bones/skin removed)
  • 1 rib of celery, finely diced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ⅓ cup hot wing sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt

Optional Substitutions:

  • For a lighter version, swap out the full-fat cream cheese for a lower-fat option or Greek yogurt.
  • If you’re following a dairy-free diet, you can use dairy-free cream cheese and mayonnaise.
  • For a milder version, reduce the amount of hot wing sauce, or use a mild hot sauce instead.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

Shred the rotisserie chicken into bite-sized pieces, discarding the bones and skin. You’ll want about 3-4 cups of shredded chicken. Using rotisserie chicken saves time, but any cooked chicken will work just as well!

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, add the shredded chicken, finely diced celery, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, hot wing sauce, and salt. Stir gently until all ingredients are well combined, and the chicken is evenly coated.

Step 3: Taste and Adjust

Taste your dip and adjust the seasonings as needed. If you prefer more heat, add more hot sauce. If you feel like the dip needs more salt, sprinkle in an extra pinch.

Step 4: Chill and Serve

For the best results, chill the dip for about 20 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully. Serve with crackers, veggies, or spread it on a sandwich for a quick snack.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients: The freshness of the celery, cream cheese, and chicken will enhance the overall taste.
  • Prep in advance: This dip can be made up to 3 days ahead of time and stored in the fridge. Perfect for parties!
  • Balance the heat: If you prefer a less spicy dip, try using a combination of hot sauce and barbecue sauce for a milder flavor.
