Christmas Jello Balls – Festive, Chewy, Colorful Treats

Description

Welcome, festive bakers! Looking for a creative way to add color and sweetness to your holiday table? Say hello to Christmas Jello Balls! These delightful, chewy treats combine the best fruity flavors of Jello with a soft, bite-sized texture that will brighten up any dessert platter. Perfect for holiday parties or even as a quick gift, these Christmas Jello Balls are as fun to make as they are to eat. Dive in, and let’s make this holiday extra festive with some sweet, snowy, and colorful Jello magic!

Ingredients

  • Red Jello Mix (3 oz, strawberry, cherry, or raspberry flavor)
  • Green Jello Mix (3 oz, lime flavor)
  • Hot Water – 1 cup, divided into two ½-cup portions
  • Crushed Vanilla Wafers or Graham Crackers – 1½ cups, divided
  • Shredded Sweetened Coconut – 1 cup, divided
  • Powdered Sugar – ½ cup, for coating

Optional Substitutions:

  • Swap graham crackers for gluten-free vanilla wafers if needed.
  • Use shredded coconut for a nutty, festive finish or try crushed nuts for extra crunch!

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Jello Mixtures
In separate bowls, dissolve the red and green Jello mixes with ½ cup hot water each. Stir thoroughly to ensure all crystals dissolve, creating a bright, smooth mixture.

Step 2: Combine the Ingredients
To each Jello mixture, add ¾ cup crushed wafers and ½ cup shredded coconut. Stir until the mix is thick and sticky – this texture will make it easier to roll later.

Step 3: Chill the Mixtures
Refrigerate both bowls for 30 minutes to 1 hour. The mixture should firm up enough to handle but not become fully set.

Step 4: Roll into Festive Balls
Using a spoon, scoop about a tablespoon of the Jello mixture. Roll it between your palms into a ball. Repeat with the rest of the mixture, creating vibrant red and green balls.

Step 5: Give Them a Snowy Coating
Roll each Jello ball in powdered sugar to create a snowy effect and reduce stickiness. Your Christmas Jello Balls are now ready to impress!

Step 6: Serve or Store
Arrange on a platter or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. These Christmas Jello Balls are as tasty as they are beautiful.

Notes

  1. Coat Immediately: If the powdered sugar dissolves quickly, double-coat each ball for a snowy finish.
  2. Flavor Variety: Feel free to experiment with other Jello flavors or add a few drops of vanilla for extra depth.
  3. Cooling Time: Chilling time helps the mixture firm up, so don’t skip this step for best results.
