Baked German Pancake Recipe – Fluffy, Delicious Brunch Delight

Description

Welcome to a delightful journey into baking! Today, I’m excited to share with you the Baked German Pancake recipe— a breakfast dish that will elevate your morning. Whether you’re planning a cozy Sunday brunch or want something special to impress your family, this German Pancake, also known as a Dutch Baby, is your go-to. Its airy texture and golden-brown edges are irresistible. Plus, this recipe is super easy, requiring just a few ingredients and minimal preparation time. Let’s dive in!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425ºF (220ºC). While the oven heats up, place 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter into a 9×13-inch baking pan. Put the pan into the oven so the butter can melt as the oven preheats. This will help create a crispy bottom for your pancake.

Step 2: Blend the Ingredients

In a blender, combine 6 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, a pinch of salt, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Blend the mixture until smooth. This step ensures your batter is lump-free and consistent.

Step 3: Pour the Batter into the Baking Dish

Once the butter is melted and bubbling in the baking dish, carefully remove the pan from the oven. Pour the blended pancake batter directly into the hot butter. Make sure the butter covers the entire bottom of the pan before adding the batter.

Step 4: Bake Until Golden Brown

Return the pan to the oven and bake the pancake for 22-27 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when the edges are puffed up and golden brown. Keep an eye on it, as the exact baking time may vary slightly depending on your oven.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

Once done, remove the Baked German Pancake from the oven and serve immediately. You can dust it with powdered sugar, drizzle it with maple syrup, or top it with fresh berries and whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use Room Temperature Ingredients: Cold eggs or milk can prevent your pancake from rising properly. Make sure your ingredients are at room temperature.
  • Don’t Open the Oven Door Early: Avoid opening the oven during the baking process to prevent the pancake from collapsing.
  • Butter is Key: Be generous with the butter for a crispy bottom and enhanced flavor.
  • Add Flavor: You can sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg into the batter for an extra layer of flavor.
