  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 clove of garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs

Optional Substitutions:

  • Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free tortellini and breadcrumbs.
  • Lactose-Free: Substitute heavy cream with lactose-free cream and use dairy-free cheese.

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat Your Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2: Cook the Tortellini

Boil the tortellini according to the package instructions, then drain and set them aside.

Step 3: Make the Sauce

In a large saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4: Add the Cream and Seasoning

Pour in the 1 cup of heavy cream, and stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring this mixture to a simmer.

Step 5: Melt the Cheese

Gradually add the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese to the cream mixture, stirring continuously until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

Step 6: Mix in the Artichokes

Fold in the chopped artichoke hearts to the sauce, ensuring they are well combined.

Step 7: Combine Tortellini and Sauce

Gently mix the cooked tortellini into the sauce, ensuring each piece is well coated.

Step 8: Prepare to Bake

Transfer the tortellini mixture into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top for a crispy finish.

Step 9: Bake

Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Tortellini: For the best texture and flavor, opt for fresh or refrigerated tortellini.
  • For Extra Crunch: Toss the breadcrumbs with a little melted butter before sprinkling them on top for an extra crunchy topping.
  • Make it Veggie-Friendly: Add in other vegetables like spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for added nutrition and color.
